City Council have decided to turn down a project to renovate the Customer Service Centre at City Hall. With a 7-2 vote, the $570,000 project will not be moving forward.

Chair of Operations and Infrastructure Councillor Chris Mayne says he doesn’t want to see reserve funds used for this kind of project. He adds they are going to get some funding from both the federal and provincial governments soon and this should not be a project that gets approved by utilizing reserve funds.

The project would have provided extra space for more staff and mail service would have been shifted to this area as well.

Mayne says with COVID-19 protocols being put in place for now and into the future, they might have to redesign the area to accommodate for those protocols.
