George Maroosis has been sworn in as North Bay City Councillor.

He says he takes he takes the job with mixed emotions as he fills the seat left vacant by the passing of Councillor Mike Anthony last month.

“I take this appointment with a heavy heart as Mike and I were good friends. I’m honored to take his position on this council,” he says.

As far as issues the city’s finances are top of mind including the impact of COVID-19, Cassellholme redevelopment, the new community centre and the current homeless situation.

“Cassellholme is an absolute priority. As far as the arena project I have some hard questions as to weather or not it is something we need to proceed with immediately or is it something to be on hold until we can see our way clear,” he says.
