North Bay OPP have charged four motorists, a 26 year old male from North Bay, a 42 year old from outside the area, a 24 year old Bonfield man and a 26 year old North Bay woman with driving while impaired.

The charges are in connection with three incidents.

Police say last Saturday morning, they were patrolling on Sand Dam Road when they stopped a vehicle and detected a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on the driver.

On Sunday afternoon a traffic complained was received about a vehicle going all over the road at a high rate of speed on Highway 11 South near North Bay.

Police say the vehicle, which had a 6 year old child in it, was spotted at a local gas station and the driver failed a roadside screening test.

and earlier today police received a report of drivers of two vehicles tossing beer cans outside the window on Highway 63.

There have now been 45 motorists charged within the detachment area with impaired driving this year.

Over 12-hundred vehicles were checked in a recent traffic blitz on Hwy 11 North near Sand Dam Road.

OPP say various police units and Ministry of Transportation enforcement officers were involved in the October 16th initiative.

One impaired driver was arrested and charged, two people are facing drug-related charges and 73 mandatory alcohol screenings were done.

Twenty vehicles were inspected with seven taken out of service.
