An update on a hold and secure incident at West Ferris Secondary School on Wednesday.

North Bay Police responded to an unknown person attempting to get into the school shortly before 3 pm.

They say officers went to the school, identified a man a short distance away and determined there was no malicious intent by the person.

School Liaison Officer Krmpotic, who was one of the responding officers, advises “this is what we practice security drills for and thankfully everything worked out. Police are thankful for the fast action of the students and staff which kept everyone safe.”

Earlier the Near North Board said the incident happened at 2:45 pm with staff acting quickly to ensure all students and staff were safe.

They also say police attended and handled the situation, with the hold and secure lifted just after 3 pm.
