Premier Doug Ford says the province is updating its colour-coded framework for imposing COVID-19 measures in light of “alarming” new projections.

The move comes a day after health authorities unveiled new projections that showed the province could see 6,500 new daily COVID-19 cases by the middle of next month.

“We’re staring down the barrel of another lockdown and I won’t hesitate for a second if we have to go further,” he says.

The changes mean several regions, including Toronto, Hamilton, Halton and York, will move to the red alert level, the most restrictive short of a lockdown.

The North Bay Parry Sound District remains in the green prevent level.

Locally the Health Unit reports no new cases of COVID-19 today.

However, three recent cases are now resolved.

That leaves four active cases in the district.

Three are in Nipissing and one is in Parry Sound District.
