This is YMCA Peace Week.

One of the highlights usually is the presentation of YMCA peace medals but due to COVID-19 the announcement of this years recipients was done virtually.

The youth winner is Emily Womack.

Chair of the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario Peace Week Elizabeth Aver says Emily is being recognized for her work with the Clean, Green Beautiful Committee.

“They tasked her with having a team that would gather weekly to clean hot spot areas of the city during COVID-19. She made a significant impact,” she says.

The adult winner is Duncan McCallum.

He credits McCallum with volunteering for several events in the community

“Participating in events like the Our Hospital Walk/Run, YMCA Strong Kids Breakfast, the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority Tree Planting, Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling and the World Women’s Curling Championship,” he says.
