vigil 1

A well attended vigil in North Bay in light of the weekend mass shooting in Orlando.

It began at city hall and then the participants walked to St Andrews Church to light candles.

It was organized by Tracey Davis of St Andrews United Church.

She says she was amazed by the turnout considering they didn’t start talking about holding the vigil until Monday night at 6.

Davis says it proves people have been impacted by the events in Orlando.

She says the event touched people so incredibly deeply and they wanted to connect with others who were feeling the same.

She says it’s important to mark what happened on the weekend.

But it’s also important to make change happen in our own community and that means being compassionate and offering hope.
