The province’s Special Investigations Unit has determined there are no reasonable grounds to lay criminal charges against a city police officer after a 29-year old man’s interaction with police in July 2016.

The situation began as a domestic dispute with a man leaving in a vehicle, colliding with another vehicle at a nearby intersection where he failed to stop, then jumped out of the moving vehicle and ran.

The man suffered a fractured pelvis with the SIU saying it could’ve happened in the collision or in the process of the arrest, but also determined there was no excessive use of force in effecting the arrest.

The incident happened in the Park and McKeown Avenue area.
