Hurley - clip 1(File photo) A rally in North Bay is being held to persuade the Liberal Government to provide some relief.

At noon today (Monday) at Lee Park there will be a large gathering of residents and workers who are opposed to the job cuts at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.

Michael Hurley (pictured) is the President of the Ontario Council of Hospital Unions, and he says the province will see this rally as it is live streamed directly to Queens Park.

He says they hope to make enough noise to bring about some change.

Hurley says there was a time until recently when a community really mobilized, sent people to Queens Park or just pushed (their cause) they would get a funding announcement and that’s what they are hoping to accomplish here.

He says right now the Liberal government is committed to a five year funding freeze, but they hope they can change their minds.

Hurley says it would be great if they went so far as to providing the North Bay Regional Health Centre with a funding boost.
