A new survey suggests 7.7-Million Ontario residents will be taking a trip this summer. And while most will stay in Canada, close to a-third will visit the United States.

Travel editor Jim Byers says a potential visa dispute between Canada and Europe, and the low-flying loonie, isn’t stopping Canadians from planning trips.

“If you do the math, somewhere around 1.7 million Canadians are planning a trip to Europe this summer and more than four times that number are planning a trip to the (United) States, despite the value of our Loonie. So there’s no question, Canadians love to travel. ”

The Rogers survey also finds half of Canadian travelers will spend up to two hours a day on their phone, although most will turn off data, put their phone in “airplane mode” or look for WI-FI hotspots to save money on roaming charges.
