There’s now a fifth person officially running in the June provincial election in Nipissing.

The Nipissing NDP riding association named local worker’s rights advocate Henri Giroux as their candidate last night.

He tells BayToday they have a few priorities for Nipissing.

“One we have is job creation, because we have seen a lot of jobs in the past seven or eight years leave and somehow we need to replace those jobs,” he says.

Healthcare is another priority.

“This are we have troubled healthcare, especially the hospital, all the cuts we’ve had the last seven years, 400 to 500 frontline workers,” he says.

He says long-term care guarantees, pharmacare and dental benefits are priorities for the party along with dealing with skyrocketing hydro bills.

Voters head to the polls June 7th.
