A 28 year old city man has been charged with assault and possession of a weapon in the commission of an offence.

Police say a man was assaulted outside of a business on Lakeshore Drive last Friday.

Police say the accused and the victim were known to each other.

Police say a knife was used during a physical altercation between the two.

The name of the person charged has not been released to protect the identity of the victim.

A 23 year old McKellar Township man has been charged with driving while impaired.

Police say early Sunday morning police observed a vehicle pinned up against a hydro pole on Stone Road in Callander.

The motorist has had his licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for a week.

Later on the same day, police arrested a 48 year old Toronto motorist after detecting the odour of alcohol on a woman’s breath.

She had her licence suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded for a week.

She’s been charged with driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in the blood.
