Unsolved but not forgotten

“I really miss my brother David, and hope somebody out there has information that can help find him.”

Norah Chevrier‘s brother David Allan Chevrier went missing on June 22nd, 1994.

He was 25 at the time.

Norah says, “I still feel the heartache inside me, because I’m missing my brother.”

David‘s case is one of several unsolved missing persons the North Bay Police Service is highlighting this year, in hopes of new information coming forward.

Detective Constable Dave Wilson says the initiative has been welcomed by the families, pointing out the cases are unsolved but not forgotten.

“That’s why we’re pushing this information out there, we haven’t forgotten and we’re hoping that the public hasn’t forgotten”, he said at a Thursday morning media conference.

Chevrier (submitted picture below) was of First Nations descent, 6-feet tall, 170 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes.

He was living with schizophrenia and an intellectual disability and was known to experience seizures.  Chevrier had been a resident of a group home on McIntyre Street West and was last seen wearing a black sleeveless top and grey sweatpants.

Police say he was possibly spotted walking along the shoreline of Lake Nipissing and on the grounds of St. Joseph’s Mother House.

At the time of his disappearance, North Bay Police searched several locations where Chevrier was known to wander, followed up on several suspected sightings, conducted several interviews with people who knew him, and, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police helicopter unit, conducted an extensive search along the shoreline of Lake Nipissing and surrounding areas.
