Lakers men’s and woman’s basketball lost to Lakehead.

And the Men’s hockey team were victorious against the Stingers.

The Nipissing Lakers woman’s volleyball team fell last night in Toronto losing all three of their sets. The final score in the first was 25-16, second set was 25-20 and the final set saw the Lakers fall 25-12 to the Toronto Varsity BluesErika Lapierre had the most kills of the game with 10, while Vicky Willars and Tracy Hammerton added four kills each with Cassie Dobson grabbing three.Next up for the team are the Ryerson Rams, tonight at 6pm.

The Nipissing Lakers men’s volley ball team also fell last night, also losing all three of their sets. The Toronto Varsity Blues won each set with a score of 25-16 in the first, 25-21in the second, and 25-23 in the third. Cam Branch led the Lakers offence with 12 kills, while Lyndon Sonego chipped in with 6 and Warren Taylor added 5. Next up for the team are the Ryerson Rams. That game is tonight at 8pm.

 

The Nipissing Lakers woman’s basketball team faced off against the Lakehead Thunderwolves last night, where Lakehead came out with an 86-55 win. Three Lakers tied for the most points that game at 9; they are Claire Abbott, Mackenzie Bahm and Rachel Jaworowicz. The team now looks to gain some momentum as they face the Guelph Gryphons tonight. Game time is 8pm.

 

The Nipissing Lakers men’s basketball team and the Lakehead Thunderwolves battled last night, where Lakehead came out with the win, 75-63. Jordan Campbell was the top scorer for the Lakers last night with 18 points. Second of the night was Marvin Ngonadi with 16, followed by Marcus Lewis with 11 for the team. Nipissing’s next game is tonight against Guelph at 8pm

 

A win for the Nipissing Lakers men’s hockey team last night. They faced off against the Concordia Stingers, where they ended the game with a 3-2 victory in double overtime. The Lakers were able to tie the game in the third period, forcing extra time. This win keeps them tied for with UOIT. The Stingers opened up the scoring in the first period; Mitch Deacon then threw the puck around with Jacob Conrad and was able to tie the game for a few minutes. It wasn’t long before Concordia took the lead again and held it for the second period and into the third. Mackenzie Keirstead then continued his strong season, scoring on a power play, forcing overtime. Second overtime then saw Colin Campbell get the victory for Nipissing. Kirk Rafuse made 32 saves in the game. The Lakers hope to keep the wins coming tonight, as they play the UQTR Patriots, who right now sit in second place in the East Division. Game time at Memorial Gardens is 7pm.
