North Bay Police have released the results of their April firearms amnesty program. Police issued a call for residents in North Bay and Callander to turn in their unwanted firearms, ammunition or weapons over to them for safe disposal.

Police say they received 37 non restricted firearms, 9 restricted firearms (all of them handguns), a replica firearm, a pellet gun and several hundred rounds of ammunition.

(drug counts)

A 25 year old Ajax man has been charged after police executed a search warrant of a motor vehicle in North Bay.

The charges include possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine and possession of property obtained by crime.

Police seized 13 grams of cocaine and $9,000 in Canadian currency.

(overdoses)
The Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the OPP say there’s been an increase in recent days of drug related overdoses.

Police say the illicit drug that is causing this is a dark coloured Fentanyl.

They describe it as a powerful opioid that is being mixed with illegal street drugs.

Police say don’t do drugs alone and know the signs of an overdose.

And if you encounter someone having an overdose call 911 or have a Nalaxone kit available.
