The North Bay Fire Department was called to a garage fire on the 1000 block of Peninsula Road on Monday afternoon.

The garage is attached to the home and was fully involved with flames when fire crews arrived on the scene.

“Crews immediately began an interior attack. We took care of the garage and then went into the house to double check there was nobody inside. Everybody did evacuate,” says Fire Chief Jason Whiteley.

He also says there was so much flame they had to bring water in as there’s no hydrants in the area.

A Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry tanker was also helping battle the fire.

No word on cause or damage.
