The North Bay Battalion have signed their first round draft pick from this year’s OHL Priority Selection.

Trappers Defenceman Pacey Schlueting, who’s from North Bay, was selected 9th overall by the Troops.
He told Bay Today signing with a Battalion is a really big deal.

“I’m really excited to get started. I can’t wait to go to camp. That’s going to be great to meet everyone and see all the guys. It’s one of the most thrilling days of my life. I’m really excited about it,” he says.

Battalion orientation camp goes May 26th.

Battalion assistant General Manager Matt Rabideau says there’s so much to like about his game.

“An effortless skater. He’s a big body. He can outmuscle opponents. He can join the rush. He’s great in the offensive zone. He’s good in the defensive zone,” he says.
