Update on Whooping Cough in West Nipissing

The North Bay-Parry Sound District Health Unit says they have 9 cases of whooping cough in West Nipissing.

The ages of those affected are from 9-45.

The health unit says in a release, 272 people have been vaccinated at 4 immunization clinics.

The health unit says the best protection is to get immunized.

It says children who haven’t received the immunization are at increased risk of developing the disease as are children whose immunization is incomplete.

As well, adults who are around infants and young children should be immunized as well.
