The North Bay Battalion made two picks in the CHL import draft.

With the 27th pick they chose a left winger from Russia Yegor Postnov.

The 18 year old played last year with Stupino Capitan in Russia and scored 17 goals and added 12 assists in 63 games.

Assistant gm of hockey operations Adam Dennis says Postnov is a high octane forward, and goes to the net hard.

“Likes to shoot the puck. He was just shy of getting drafted this year. He’s really excited to come over. I think he’s going to be a really good player for us. Definetely a top six. Hopefully, he can come in and score some goals,” Dennis says.
With the 87th pick in the 2nd round the Troops chose right defenseman David Maier.

He’s from Austria. He’s also 18. Last year, he played for a team in Sweden and also represented Austria at u 18 and u 20 events.
“He’s had some pretty good success there. He’s an offensive defenseman. He really likes to jump into the rush. I think he’s going to fit nicely into our system,” he says.

Dennis says when they pick players in this draft the goal is to choose players who are either top six forwards or top 4 defensemen.
