It’s going to be hot and humid this Canada Day weekend in the North Bay area, with a heat warning in effect.

Environment Canada says humidex values are expected to reach 40.

Daily temperatures will be in the low 30’s and the hot temperatures could extend into next week, too.

Public health officials say there are several ways to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Among other things, they include:

  • drinking plenty of fluids
  • wearing light-weight, loose fitting clothing
  • seeking air conditioned spaces
  • avoiding heavy meals and using your oven
  • taking cool showers or baths
  • never leave anyone or pets in a parked car
