Students want answers and they want both sides to get back to the table as the faculty strike at Nipissing University continues.

Student Zachary Dubeau took part in a student sit in rally today (Monday) inside the lobby of the President’s Office.

Dubeau says whether you side with the professors or side with the administration, the student body just wants to go back to class. Dubeau says all students should try and get involved.

He says “we aren’t saying we a pro profs, we aren’t pro administration we just want them to get back to the table, so when you pass the picket lines you can ask the professors about their situation. Or you can come to the office and talk to Dr. Degagne. Dubeau says they expect to meet with President Dr. Mike Degagne tomorrow (Tuesday).

Meantime, hearing about the student sit in Degagne has released the following statement:  “I am empathetic to our students during the faculty strike, which is strategically timed to have maximum impact on students.  This sit in makes me proud of our students. Critical thinking and civic engagement are vitally important elements that students gain from attending university.”

The strike is into its 8th day.
