There are 53 forest fires actively burning in the Northeast Region.

That’s the latest information from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, with officials saying there were 10 new fires discovered yesterday (Tuesday).

Three have already been declared ”out”.

They also say cooler temperatures and recent precipitation kept fire activity in the Temagami cluster to a minimum yesterday.

There are only two fires, covering 2,500 and 350 hectares, respectively, in the River Valley Cluster and both are not under control.
