Reduced fire activity in the Temagami area continues to help fire fighting crews, with evacuation alerts also lifted.

Three more forest fires in the North Bay MNRF District are now out with eight more listed as under control.

That includes North Bay 69, which forced the evacuation of about 20 homes recently.

Across the Northeast, officials say there were 17 new fire starts in the region Wednesday, with several in the Cochrane area.

There are 66 active forest fires in the northeast.

Twenty-eight are not under control.
