Sixty active forest fires continue to burn in the Northeast region with 28 not yet under control.

The 116th fire of the season for the North Bay District, was discovered Saturday west of Latchford.

Waterbombers were attacking it all weekend.

Three new fires were discovered in Cochrane area yesterday with another one recently discovered in the Kirkland Lake area, near the junction of highways 65 and 66.

Officials with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says Parry Sound 33 was active again yesterday.

That fire has forced evacuations in French River Provincial Park to Key River and along the French River, Pickeral River and Hartley Bay.

Harvey Inlet First Nation has declared a state of emergency with all community members safely evacuated.

There are also evacuation alerts for parts of that area too.

Several fires continue to burn in the River Valley area, Pembroke and Temagami.

Hundreds of fire crews from other parts of Canada, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Mexico are helping to battle the forest fires here in the northeast.
