The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says there were 47 active forest fires in the northeast as of Thursday evening.

21 of those are not under control.

The ministry says they have incident management teams at 3 major fires: The Lady Evelyn Cluster, Parry Sound 33 and The Pembroke Cluster.

The Parry Sound fire is close to 11,200 hectares in size.

The ministry says they are making excellent progress in critical areas.

The fire remains 5 kilometres from Highway 69 and less than 1 kilometre from a CN trestle bridge.

The ministry says well over 500 fire fighters and support staff are in Ontario from across Canada, The United States and Mexico.

Meantime, the forest fires are currently impacting mail delivery to the regions of Noelville, Alban, Henvey Inlet and French River First Nations communities.

Canada Post says if you live in Noelville or Alban you can pick up your mail in St. Charles.

If you live in Henvey Inlet and French River First Nations communities your mail will be available in Britt.
