It won’t be long before the renovations to Veterans Field are complete.

Back in March, council gave approval to a $500,000 project which will see Veterans have a brand new grass infield.

Dave Schroeder is the parks manager for the city.

He told BayToday the drainage capability of this facility is quite impressive.

“There will be few rainouts here and the only challenge would be torrential rainfall but it should be ready for action the next day and I’m pretty excited about that,” he says.
TDI International AG Inc is the company hired to the work.

Spokesperson Brian O’Sullivan says the drainage will be complete this month.

He says the sodding should be done in the last week of the month and the new field should be ready by the end of the month.

O’Sullivan told BayToday this is a unique project.

“This is neat with all the different surfaces. The tarp, the clay, the artificial and by the time this is done it’s going to be really, really neat,” he says.
There’s also work done on the pitchers mound and the stands as well.
