The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says as of last night there are 42 active forest fires in the northeast and all are being held, are under control or being observed.

North Bay 72 has not grown in size and remains at over 27,000 hectares while Parry Sound 33 remains at over 11,000 hectares.

The number of fire fighters and support staff in the province continues to decrease.

It’s down to just over 200.

Personnel and equipment is being provided from across Canada, the United Sates and Mexico.

North Bay, Powassan, Mattawa north of the Mattawa River and Burks Falls remain under a restricted fire zone.

All waterway and road restrictions have been lifted in the Parry Sound fire but entry into the fire perimeter is still not permitted.
