North Bay Police are working with 2 youth to see if they are interested in a career in policing.

Kyle McDiarmid and Sam Adams are part of the Youth in Policing Initiative.

Kyle says they’re getting the chance to see what a police officers day is like.

“We went to One Kids Place and got a tour. We went to a women’s shelter and got to see about different things that go on in the community and different ways that we can help out,” he says.
Kyle plans to take the Community Foundations course at Canadore.

Community Safety Coordinator John Schultz says the initiative gives young people a chance to see what policing is like.

“We like to promote what we’re doing and by giving these guys an opportunity what’s actually accomplished in a day. This gives them an idea whether this is something they want to go forward with,” he says.

Sam says her eyes have been opened on the many ways police help people during the day.
