There seems to be be more confidence in the real estate market in Ontario.

So indicates the latest survey from the Ontario Real Estate Association.

Sean Simpson is with Ipsos a polling company.

He says they have been tracking the perceptions of people when it comes to home ownership and real estate and the index has increased by 27 points and that is the biggest increase they’ve seen.

He says they do the study two times a year and they’ve been doing it for three years.

Simpson says the survey reveals 49 per cent of the neighborhood real estate market in Ontario is stronger than last year.

Still, the numbers are substantially higher in southern Ontario and Eastern Ontario. In the north, 47 per cent describe their city’s economy as good.

And that is up from 26 per cent last year.

40 per cent in the north when asked said the current residential market in their community was favourable.

A year ago that figure was 42 per cent.

As for the future, 24 per cent said the market in the north would be stronger in the next year compared to 22 per cent a year ago.
