Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says the public consultation with parents on what should be taught in Ontario schools will be wide ranging and include issues like the cannabis legislation, financial literacy and how math is taught in addition to the teaching of sex education.

He says the math piece is tremendously important.

Fedeli says you can see it when you ask for change in a store.

“We are failing our kids in math training. There are many areas we need to consult on and have improvements on,” he says.

As for Premier Doug Ford warning that teachers who use the now-repealed modernized sex-ed curriculum will face consequences for doing so.

Fedeli says the government is responsible for education in Ontario.
Vic Fedeli says the parental consultation will be wide ranging in the number of issues and the number of people consulted.

” This will be all 124 ridings and it will be inclusive so we can hear from everyone rather than 1,600 people who went on line out of the 14 million people,” Fedeli says.
