Council streamingIt was brought forward as a way to find some efficiencies and savings in the budget, but Councillor Mac Bain’s proposal to cut two council position will not move forward.

A recorded vote found 7 councillors not in favour of the reduction compared to 3 who did.

Bain says this could have saved almost $50,000 per year.

There was also talk of moving to a ward system down the line, although Bain says he’s not in favour of that.

Mayor Al McDonald was one of those who did support it.

Councillor Chris Mayne says he’s comfortable with just leaving council as it currently is as he says “if it’s not broken why fix it?”

He cited the already large workload councillors have to handle as a reason to not reduce the number of seats.
