Terry Zubko_Age 15-16_Missing1982

 

North Bay Police highlighted two long term missing person cases today. The first missing person is Terry Anthony Zubko (photo above )who went missing on this date in 1982 at the age of 17.

Zubko lived with his parents in the Soo in the spring of 1982 and was admitted to the former psychiatric hospital in May and he was granted limited privileges to walk around the grounds unsupervised and hasn’t been seen since July 21st 34 years ago.

He is described as 5-8, weighing 123 pounds with straight brown hear and hazel eyes.

He would now be 52.

He was believed to be wearing blue jeans, a brown and beige v necked striped sweater, a blue t shirt and blue and white running shoes when he disappeared.

His sister Alana Cawston says he was a normal teen who liked to play sports, had a regular paper route and enjoyed life.

She says it’s been heart breaking not knowing what has happened to him.

The other missing person was Norman Richard Welsh ( photo below) went missing just over 40 years ago on July 19th, 1976.

He was vacationing with his mother in Sturgeon Falls.

The day before he disappeared police found him walking on the highway near Sturgeon.

Police took him to the hospital and he was transferred form there to the Psychiatric Hospital.

Welsh wanted to be released from there and the following day he walked towards a wooded area of the hospital grounds and was last seen running towards the bush area.

He is described as being caucasian, 6 feet tall, a slim build, short brown hair, hazel eyes, a dark complexion and a surgical scar on his heard covered by hair.

Police say he needed medication for epilepsy and he known to have seizures.

Det. Cst. Scott Buchannan says they are releasing the specific details of long time ago missing person cases hoping to jog someone’s memory.
