NHL rookie camps are getting underway and four North Bay Battalion players are taking part.

Pittsburgh camp started yesterday (Monday) and includes goalie Christian Propp (pictured), Matthew Struthers is off to the Carolina Hurricanes, Justin Brazeau to San Jose and Kyle Potts to the New York Rangers.

Meantime, the Troops’ pre-season roster is down to 25.

This after they assigned Kyle Jackson to the Ottawa Senators of the junior A Central Canada Hockey League.

The Battalion went 1-2 in the pre-season showcase in Kitchener.

After a 3-0 loss to Saginaw, North Bay beat Moncton 5-4 then lost 4-3 to host Kitchener.

Both Nipissing soccer teams were in Kingston on the weekend.

The Nipissing women’s team is now 2-1-1 on the season.

They defeated RMC 2-0 on Sunday after dropping a 4-2 decision to Queens the day before.

On the men’s side, the Lakers won by forfeit over Queens then shutout RMC 3-0 to improve to 2-1 on the season.
