North Bay Police are expanding its vulnerable persons on line registry.

In 2011 city police partnered with the North Bay and Area Chapter of Autism Ontario and Hands The Family Help Network to create an online autism registry and now they’ve expanded it to include people with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Acquired Brain Injury and Intellectual Disability.

Chief of Police Shawn Devine says it only makes sense with the availability of social media and the availability of computers.

The registry provides police with important information like a vulnerable person’s description, routines, medical needs, favorite attractions and emergency contact info.

He says the registry is used when a vulnerable person goes missing.
