It’s quite the sight to see 10 people pull a 30,000 pound aircraft.

But that’s what was happening today at Voyageur Aviation in North Bay as it’s the 2nd annual Pull for United Way.

Erika Lougheed is manager of Nipissing and Parry Sound districts for the United Way.

She told BayToday several worthwhile organizations are benefitting from this event.

“Getting behind the Gathering Place. We’re keeping their food rescue program operational. The Warming Centre is going to be open this winter because of the funds raised and the Senior transportation program is also being helped,” she says.

Last year, 16 teams took part and this year there are 4 more.

This is the 9th year 22 Wing has been involved in the event and over $100,000 raised to date.

Commander Col. Mark Roberts told BayToday he’s glad they can make a difference.

“It’s the United Way, the base and the community involved in this. To see the local teams here is another example of the community and the base working together for a great cause,” he says.

Last year, $2,500 was raised and with more teams this year it’s hoped more funds will be raised.
