The nine day OPP fall seat belt campaign begins today.

North Bay OPP remind motorists that on top of having a properly adjusted and securely fastened seat belt for themselves, all passengers under the age of 16 must be properly secured, too.

If not the driver can be charged.

Fines range from $200 to $1,000.

OPP say they conduct provincial seatbelt campaigns every year to raise awareness of seatbelt use and their effectiveness in saving lives in the event of a collision.
