Justin Brazeau (pictured) scored a hat trick for the North Bay Battalion, but it wasn’t enough as the Troops lost 7-5 in Oshawa last night (Sunday).

Adam McMaster and Matthew Struthers also scored for North Bay.

Meantime, citing the need for rest, coach Stan Butler stepped away from the bench of last night’s game in Oshawa.

After consulting with the Generals club doctor before the game he said he was going to take the day and “try to get some things sorted out”.

Assistant coaches Scott Wray and Adam Dennis manned the Battalion bench in Butler’s absence.

Next up, the Troops host Ottawa on Wednesday.

 

In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos only had one game on the weekend, a 6-1 win over Espanola on Friday night.

Thomas Yachmenev scored twice for Powassan in the win.

Cade Herd, Brett Shawana, Ryan Mills and Jesse Kirkby also scored for the Voodoos.

 

In OUA soccer, the Nipissing women defeated Trent 1-nil on Saturday and tied UOIT 1-all yesterday.

On the men’s side, the Lakers won both of their games, 4-3 over Trent and 1-nil over UOIT.

The Nipissing lacrosse team split their weekend games.

They lost 13-10 in overtime to Queens on Saturday then won 15-12 over Ottawa yesterday.

 

In NDA senior football on Friday, Levi Weber led the way with three touchdowns as Widdifield shutout Chippewa 35-0.

Curtis Forsyth and Cam Peltier also had touchdowns for the Wildcats.

Elsewhere St Joseph-Scollard Hall won 21-8 over Franco Cite.

Bears touchdowns were scored by Matteo Pavone and Trey Anthony.

Pavone also kicked two field goals and three singles.
