An incredibly successful 100 Women – 100 Dollars – 100 Hours campaign last week.

Chair Wendy Abdallah says they had a fantastic response with over 150 people raising $15,272 for the Trinity Infant Food Shelf.

The goal was $10,000.

“I think when you involve children in any kind of initiative and you want to support the babies in our community, or infants, or young people, I think our community rallies around it excessively well,” she says.

Abdallah says Trinity Infant Food Shelf provides a host of services.

“Some of it is education, some of it is just having an awareness about developmental milestones and then the other piece that is vitally important is the essential needs that babies receive,” she says.

Families are given formula, breastfeeding supplies, baby food, sleep sacks, baby blankets and more.

Volunteers also provide support and encouragement to new parents and caregivers, and offer health education in areas like infant nutrition, safe sleep practices, and child development and safety.

The 100 Women – 100 Dollars – 100 Hours campaign was spearheaded by a group of five local organizers, and sponsored by 100.5 FM KiSS FM, Cor Maximus and Hands TheFamilyHelpNetwork.ca.
