North Bay’s only synagogue will be remembering the victims of the shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh last week.

The vigil will be held next Friday at 7 pm at the Sons of Jacob Synagogue on McIntyre Street West.

President and CEO Howard Kizell told BayToday the shooting which killed 11 people is devastating.

“It’s tragic and horrible as people go out and kill other people because they don’t believe what other people believe,” he says.

He says violence like this to any group of people is sickening.

“We’re human beings and we’re sickened by what happened. If you have an ounce of empathy you feel horrible. If you don’t I can’t help you,” Kizell says.

He says the evening will be about recognizing those that were killed at the Tree Of Life Synagogue.

Kizell says people can go online to support the victims and their families.
