NU lakersThe volleyball and soccer teams at Nipissing were all in action Saturday.

A good game for the Nipissing Lakers Men’s Volleyball team as they had a 3-0 sweep of the Windsor Lancers. 

Both Cameron Branch and Lyndon Sonego had 12 kills in the match and together made 28 points for the Lakers.

Set one saw the Lakers take it with a 25-20 final score, Second game’s score was 26-24 and the third, 25-23. This sweep is also the first win of the season for the team.

With a record of 1-1, the Lakers hit the road for a game against McMaster Friday night and Waterloo on Saturday.

 

The Nipissing Lakers women’s soccer team needed a win in their game against the Queens Gaels for a chance at the post season. But they were unsuccessful, losing 3-1 in the second last game of the season.

Selena Innamorati scored the only goal for the team in the 74th minute of the game.

Nipissing (18) can still catch up to Carleton (21) in points, however Carleton has their final season game against Trent Excalibur Sunday.

Final game for the woman’s team is Sunday at noon, against RMC in Kingston.

 

The Nipissing Lakers men’s soccer team faced off against the Queens Gaels yesterday, and came up short, losing 2-0.

It was a scoreless game for the first half; however the second saw a goal scoring penalty kick and long range shot.

Right now there is one game remaining on the schedule, however, it has already been set that Nipissing will finish in fifth place.

Their last game of the regular goes today against RMC. First game of the post season goes Wednesday.
