Voodoos_Newsletter_280On top of two Battalion road games this weekend, there’s plenty of local teams in action, including the Powassan Voodoos, Canadore Panthers, Nipissing Lakers and there was NDA football on Thursday.

We start with three games in three days for the Powassan Voodoos.

They’re bringing their 10-0 record north for a matchup in Cochrane tonight (Friday), then visit Timmins tomorrow night and Iroqouis Falls on Sunday afternoon.

 

Canadore volleyballCanadore‘s volleyball teams and the men’s basketball team are in action tomorrow (Sat) for their home openers at the Education Centre Gym.

Both volleyball teams play Trent, the women are on the court at 1 pm Saturday while the men play at 3 pm.

In men’s basketball, Canadore takes on Georgian at 6 pm. Admission is free.

 

NU lakersSeveral Nipissing teams are playing all weekend,  including tonight (Friday).

In OUA men’s hockey, the Lakers are on the road taking on Brock while in women’s hockey, the Lakers are in Oshawa playing UOIT.

In volleyball, the Nipissing women are in Thunder Bay playing Lakehead while the men take on Western.

In women’s basketball, the Lakers visit Algonquin and in rowing, Nipissing is holding an OUA development regatta.

 

footballIn NDA senior boys football, St Joseph-Scollard Hall scored a 21-8 win over Algonquin.

Touchdowns for the Bears were scored by Brady Benoit on a goal line surge, Jeremy Courchesne on a 10 yard run and Jacob Udeschini on a 70 yard pass and catch combination from Joe Whittet.

Adam Asselin scored on a hook pass from Algonquin quarterback Braeden Villeneuve.

Riley Roy added a convert and a rouge.

For the Bears, Eric Venditti added three converts.
