After Project Red Red Ribbon was launched earlier this week by MADD Nipissing, area police partners are kicking off another impaired driving awareness campaign today (Friday).

Local police services, government officials and community partners are holding a joint forces Festive RIDE check this afternoon.

The Festive RIDE campaign runs from today through January 2nd.

Officials say it’s one of the most effective ways to remove impaired drivers from the road.

So far this year, alcohol or drugs were a factor in the deaths of 39 people on OPP-patrolled roads across Ontario.
