North Bay Police report the North Bay Post Office building on Worthington Street was evacuated Tuesday afternoon.

Staff Sergeant Mike Hunter says close to 5 pm it was learned a Canada Post call centre had received a call in Southern Ontario.

“It indicated that there may be a bomb at one of their sorting plants. North Bay was not specifically named or identified. It’s believed the call came from the Mississauga area,” he says.

He says management made the decision to evacuate.

“We spoke with management and did a quick search with management of the premises. Nothing suspicious or out of the ordinary was located,” Staff Sergeant Hunter says.

He says the employees were then allowed back into the building.
