Three colleges in Ontario — including Canadore — have launched a new online business program that teaches management and entrepreneurial skills to certified tradespeople who are looking to run their own businesses. It’s a first of it’s kind online business trades diploma that is available through OntarioLearn for students enrolled at Canadore, Algonquin College in Ottawa and Sarnia’s Lambton College.
“This is a unique solution for tradespeople who are looking to strengthen their business model,” said George Burton, president and CEO of Canadore College. “Small businesses are a growth market in our economy and this program will create even more career opportunities for a wide range of tradespeople.”
The program will be expanded to all 24 public colleges next year.

Still at Canadore, a special Christmas light demonstration is back at the college’s Commerce Court Campus.
Faculty, staff and students from the college’s electrical techniques, carpentry and welding programs built and installed an impressive light structure synchronized to Christmas carols and seasonal popular music.
The lights go live at dusk daily.
Residents are invited to tune into 88.1 FM, when on site, for the full-festive experience.
