Police say a 39-year-old man from North Bay has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of a university student that dates back two decades in Sudbury.
Investigators with the Greater Sudbury Police Service say 23 year old Renee Sweeney was found dead with 30 stab wounds, behind the counter of the adults-only video store where she worked in January 1998.
Police have made numerous public appeals over the years and used new investigative techniques as technology advanced.
They say that this morning officers arrested Robert Steven (Steve) Wright in North Bay, after analyzing forensic evidence.
Investigators say the accused was an 18-year-old student at Lockerby Composite School at the time.
Police did not say whether the accused knew Sweeney, and are asking anyone who may have information about him to come forward.
