A special weather statement has been issued for the North Bay area.

Environment Canada says a significant winter storm expected tonight into tomorrow night.

A Colorado low that is tracking towards Ontario will bring a mixed bag of weather to Northeastern Ontario late today through tomorrow.

Regions from Sault Ste. Marie to North Bay will likely see several centimetres of snow before precipitation changes to rain.

In these regions, there is also a threat of a few hours of freezing rain tonight.

A freezing rain warning may be required.

Precipitation should change back to snow tomorrow as much colder air moves in.
