debate

The economy was one of the big discussion points on Country 600 CKAT’s debate Friday morning.

Liberal Candidate Anthony Rota and the NDP’s Kathleen Jodouin both took part, discussing what their parties would offer in terms of balanced or deficit budgets, spending plans, tax cuts, income splitting and more.

Meantime, things got a little chippy during a discussion on the Energy East Pipeline Proposal with Jodouin bringing up a Liberal party official resigning when it was learned he advised TransCanada on how to lobby a new government on the proposal.

Rota was taking aim at the NDP over the use of taxpayers money.

Meantime, both were asked about voting along party lines or voting for the riding.  Rota says it’s about making sure the riding’s voice is heard and working together.  He then attacked the Conservatives.

Jodouin says she’ll represent the riding.

Other issues discussed included seniors care, FedNor, job creation, coalition governments and the gun registry.

Both candidates were asked if they would support the return of the gun registry.

Conservative Jay Aspin‘s office declined our invitation to take part and Green Party candidate Nicole Peltier informed us Thursday she could no longer take part as she’s travelling to Thunder Bay to assist with a fellow candidates campaign.
