Justin Brazeau’s third goal of the night was the overtime game-winner as the Troops slipped by the Flint Firebirds 5-4.

It was the first win in three games for North Bay, and they had to overcome a two goal deficit in the third period to do it.

Troops Assistant Coach Adam Dennis says the desperate play in the third needs to be their approach going forward.

“You don’t play a full sixty, but you get rewarded for a good solid twenty, so you have to give our guys credit for fighting back.  But, you don’t want to be put in that situation again,” he says.

Brazeau’s hat trick goal also gives him 115 career goals, surpassing Cody Hodgson for third place on the Battalion franchise goal-scoring list.

Dennis says it shows how valuable Brazeau is to the team.

“Cody Hodgson was an incredible player and for Justin to do that, I hope it puts into context a little bit of just the kind of season and type of career he has had for us,” Dennis says.

Matthew Struthers and Luke Burghardt scored the other goals while Christian Propp made 27 saves in net.

North Bay is now off until next Wednesday.
