NU lakersDuring last night’s post season game, the Nipissing Lakers women’s hockey team had a chance to earn a series sweep with a win against the Western Mustangs.

However, even after defeating them in Game 1 on Wednesday, Western was able to pick up the 4-2 win over the Lakers.

With both teams now tied 1-1 in the series, the winner of tonight’s game will go on to the OUA championship game and qualify for CIS Nationals.

Stacey Henshaw was able to find the back of the net twice in the game with two assists from Zosia Davis.

One of those goals was in the first, where she opened up the scoring, only to have the Mustangs respond with 2 before the end of the period.

Henshaw tied it up with a goal in the second with an assist by Davis and Kaley Tienhaara.

Western then scored the winning goal before the end of period 2. They then secured their win with a fourth goal in the third.

At the end of the contest, Nipissing outshot Western 28-21, as Jackie Rochefort recorded 18 saves.

Game 3 goes tonight in London at 4pm.

The winner of this game will then advance to the OUA championship game next weekend’s where they will take on Guelph.
