A very successful Strong Kids Campaign breakfast at the North Bay YMCA this morning.

Nicole Beattie, vice president of philanthropy and marketing for the YMCA in Northeastern Ontario says 110 people attended the event and over $5,000 was donated to the campaign at the breakfast including cheques from a bake sale event and The Elks Lodge.

She says they haven’t reached their $110,000 fundraising goal just yet.

“We are getting really close to the goal. In this final week we encourage people to come in and donate to the YMCA so we can continue to help local children and families in North Bay,” she says.

She says the funds support the Strong Kids Campaign which ensures that no one is turned away from participating in the programs at the Y.

“Our programs include going to camp, learning to swim, participating in our health, fitness and aquatics membership or even children that need child care. We’re ensuring there’s a place to belong for everyone in our community,” Beattie says.
